The Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust is responsible for delivering and maintaining secure, high-performing digital infrastructure across acute and community sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managed servers and storage, ensuring compliance with NHS security standards and DSPT Toolkit requirements.
- Resolved complex technical issues within agreed SLAs, minimising downtime through proactive monitoring and alerting systems.
- Led and supported technical projects, contributing specialist expertise in server, networking, telecoms, or architecture domains.
- Supervised and developed infrastructure engineers, ensuring effective team coverage and operational continuity.
- Collaborated with internal and external stakeholders, including Croydon Council, NHS Trusts, and Clinical Commissioning Groups.
- Participated in on-call rota to provide critical out-of-hours support for infrastructure incidents and service continuity.
Management Responsibilities:
- Lead delivery of infrastructure objectives and acted as lead specialist for servers and storage.
- Supported development and implementation of BCP and Digital Infrastructure strategies.
- Manage day-to-day infrastructure tools and systems.
- Liaise with internal/external stakeholders.
- Oversee risk identification and mitigation, and alert senior management.
- Direct recovery efforts during major infrastructure incidents and lead service improvement programmes.
- Train technical staff, conduct performance reviews, and develop training programmes.
- Contribute to strategic planning for servers and storage within the infrastructure team.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Delivered infrastructure services in line with SLAs, ensuring maximum system availability and resilience.
- Managed configuration, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting of server hardware/software.
- Implemented data backup strategies and ensured recovery of systems and data.
- Monitored system performance and capacity, reporting findings and leading proactive improvements.
- Ensured compliance with security standards and responded to NHS CareCERT.
- Oversee change management process.
