This Consultant in Acute Medicine post is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast‑paced, innovative, improvement‑driven service within Croydon University Hospital. The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) has 46 beds where acutely unwell medical patients are admitted either directly from M‑SDEC or most commonly from the Emergency Department. Patients are assessed, stabilised and receive rapid, evidence‑based treatments before being referred to specialist medical wards elsewhere in the Trust. The role supports senior clinical care and ensures patients receive the right care in the right place.

Responsibilities

  • Show dynamism, enthusiasm and flexibility in reshaping acute medical services in Croydon.
  • Help provide a first‑class clinical service to all Trust patients.
  • Provide high‑quality leadership and support to medical staff, allied health care professionals and Trust management in the AMU and associated medical specialty areas.
  • Support and sustain teaching and research where possible in relevant clinical areas.
  • Work within the framework of applicable Trust policies, procedures and clinical governance framework.
  • Adhere to contractual requirements and support the Trust’s clinical development frameworks, business plans and development strategies.
