The Healthcare Support Worker will offer nursing, phlebotomy, administrative and general clinical assistance to the Sexual Health & HIV team. The HSW will liaise closely with and report directly to the Lead Nurses for Sexual Health. The HSW will work under the direct supervision of a first level registered nurse with guidelines and protocols.
Key responsibilities
- Knowledge of HIV: To have an appropriate knowledge of HIV, and the treatment and management of this condition.
- Promote a sensitive and caring approach to patients, visitors and colleagues.
- Ensure communications with patients and their relatives are supportive and informative with due regard to confidentiality.
- Refer on to medical team any significant clinical issue.
- Be part of the sexual health care team, providing high quality holistic care to clients accessing sexual health, contraceptive and reproductive healthcare services.
- Provide clinical and clerical support within the sexual health team.
