Job Purpose

We are looking to recruit a Team Manager to work within the 16+ children in care and care experienced adults' service. Managing a team of 2 social workers and 3 personal advisors, you will be driving practice for our children in care who are aged 16 and 17 and care experienced adults aged 18-25. This is an exciting time to join Croydon as we have recently reconfigured the service to create smaller teams with additional management support. We are also working with our multi‑agency partners to create dedicated specialist support for our young people, including from Health, Adult Services, Housing and Education. Together, we are focused on achieving positive outcomes for children in our borough. We are committed to doing things differently, taking into account current research and best practice, and we are looking for people who also want to be part of this journey.

We are looking for Social Work England registered experienced social workers with supervisory experience or experienced team managers who have experience of working with young people who are in care and care experienced adults. Your role as a team manager is crucial in terms of practice and service development, and we are looking for managers who are compassionate and enthusiastic about improving the lives of children in care and supporting our young people onto independence.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified and registered Social Worker who is Social Work England registered
  • Able to lead improvement in social work practice at an operational level through effective performance management
  • Evidence of leading and managing operational change effectively
  • Able to lead and manage an operational area dealing with high risk and high complexity in a way that delivers good safeguarding and well‑being outcomes for children and families
  • Able to apply and use effectively at an operational level outcomes‑based quality assurance frameworks
