About the Role

Croydon Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Property Surveyor to join our ambitious housing acquisition programme. This is a vital role contributing directly to our efforts to increase the supply of affordable housing across the borough by acquiring and bringing street properties back into use.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting pre-sale surveys of potential acquisitions to identify condition and suitability.
  • Preparing costed schedules of works required to bring properties up to lettable standards.
  • Working with colleagues and contractors to oversee void works post-acquisition, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Providing technical advice on property condition, refurbishment requirements, and compliance with housing standards.
  • Supporting the council’s strategic goals of increasing housing supply and reducing temporary accommodation pressures.

Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified or experienced in residential property surveying, preferably with a background in housing or public sector work.
  • Skilled in identifying and costing refurbishment and repair works.
  • Confident managing property inspections and contractor liaison.
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
