Role Summary
As Principal Accountant, you will support the Head of Strategic Finance and Finance Manager, deputising when required. You will ensure the Council’s annual accounts are produced on time, meet legislative standards and uphold a positive relationship with the external auditor.
Responsibilities
- Support preparation and submission of annual accounts.
- Ensure accounts comply with procedural requirements and financial legislation.
- Maintain effective communication with the external audit team.
- Assist with closing and reporting tasks and deputise for senior finance staff.
Qualifications
- Qualified or experienced as a CCAB/CIMA or equivalent senior finance/accounting professional.
- Demonstrated knowledge of local government finance and relevant legislation.
- Understanding of professional accountancy codes and financial best practice.
