We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Road Safety) to join our Design & Commissioning Team within Highways and Traffic. You will play a key role in shaping the borough's approach to road safety, working on projects that range from traffic calming measures to major junction improvements. Key Responsibilities
- Lead on the development and delivery of road safety engineering projects from concept to completion.
- Undertake collision analysis and identify priority locations for intervention.
- Prepare detailed designs, specifications, and cost estimates for traffic management and safety schemes.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
- Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and best practice guidance.
- Contribute to the development of policies and strategies that promote safer roads and active travel.
About You
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Proven experience in road safety engineering and traffic management design.
- Strong understanding of current design standards (DMRB, TSRGD, LTN 1/20, etc.).
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to deliver on time and within budget.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in road safety.
