This job is for an experienced and motivated investigator with a sound understanding of legal processes. Knowledge of Trading Standards legislation would be an advantage.

This is a small, busy and driven team whose priorities include:

  • Protecting and safeguarding vulnerable persons
  • Investigating illicit tobacco cases
  • Preventing under-age sales
  • Dealing robustly with incidents of rogue traders
  • Undertaking essential product safety work
  • Running a range of other projects to suit local, regional and national priorities

We work closely with partner agencies and have an excellent reputation for undertaking ground-breaking initiatives and achieving outstanding results. Strong communication skills, along with the ability to work under pressure, both as part of a team and independently, are essential.

Preferably, you will hold a Trading Standards qualification, but consideration will be given to applicants who can demonstrate considerable knowledge and experience in this area as well.

This role is entitled to Compulsory Car User Allowance. Closing date for applications is Sunday 28 June 2026 and interviews will be held week commencing Monday 13 July 2026.
