Location: Croydon
We are looking for a passionate and experienced heritage manager to lead the newly formed Heritage Service - combining the Museum of Croydon and Croydon Archives - for a twelve-month maternity cover contract. This role presents an opportunity to help shape the new service including a dedicated heritage learning and outreach offer. The role will develop our exhibitions and public programming, raising the profile of the museum and archives within the council and across Croydon's communities.
The postholder will also develop partnerships within and beyond Croydon's dynamic cultural and community sectors to strengthen our offer. The successful candidate will need excellent leadership and people management skills and be familiar with working with culturally diverse communities and people with different needs. Experience working with heritage collections in line with museum and archive accreditation standards and producing engaging exhibitions and public programmes is essential.
The post holder will also be able to problem solve, plan and think strategically to increase visits and engagement with the heritage services. Experience managing budgets, developing funding applications and delivering funded projects is also important. This role is an opportunity to make a huge difference in London's most populous borough with an ambitious investment programme in culture and creativity and a rich and diverse history.
