Heating Systems Contracts Manager
Lead compliance and contract management for heating systems, keeping homes safe and residents protected. We are looking for an experienced, qualified, and motivated Heating Systems Contracts Manager to join Croydon's Housing Compliance, Assets and Repairs Division. This is a critical role responsible for managing compliance across domestic and commercial gas systems, renewable heating, and major mechanical plant. You will act as the technical subject matter expert, leading contractor performance, compliance assurance, and resident communication.
About the role
- Lead contract management for all communal & domestic heating systems, with a budget of approx. £2.5m.
- Ensure full compliance with the Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998 and all statutory duties.
- Oversee inspections, servicing, remedials, and capital replacement programmes.
- Act as the lead adviser on gas, renewables, and heat networks across housing.
- Manage risk, investigate incidents, and liaise with the HSE and external assurance bodies.
- Lead on resident communication around shutdowns and heating works, ensuring clear and empathetic engagement.
- Prepare monthly performance reports to present to Senior staff members.
- Manage and monitor budgets, preparing draft budget proposals each year for servicing, upgrades, and new installations.
- Work with the Business Support Manager to address all complaints and ensure enquiries are responded to in a timely manner.
- Carry out one to ones, appraisals, and performance reviews with team members.
- Undertake the out of hours duty manager role on a rota basis.
About you
- Gas qualified with strong knowledge, experience, and understanding of gas safety legislation and mechanical systems.
- Proven experience in contract procurement, management, and performance monitoring.
- Experience delivering resident-focused services in a compliance environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and risk management skills.
- Ability to undertake inspections and site visits, and to respond flexibly to emergencies.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
