Calleydown is a residential short break care home for children with severe learning disabilities aged 5 to 18 years. Some children have associated physical disabilities and total care needs, and some exhibit challenging behaviour.
Part of Croydon’s Services for Children with Disabilities Team, Calleydown is located in New Addington.
We are seeking to recruit a cook for children in the home to join our team.
You should understand the additional needs of the children and be willing to work within the home’s guidelines to ensure their safety.
The key responsibilities include preparing meals according to the daily menu, cleaning the kitchen after use, ordering food, and planning menus aligned with the children’s needs. Maintaining cleanliness and health and safety standards within the kitchen is essential.
You will be part of a team providing care and promoting positive outcomes for children. Your role does not involve direct work with children but requires understanding and respect for their individual needs.
You will supervise a shift manager and should be a good communicator. Flexibility and adaptability are important.
Additional duties include reporting maintenance issues in the kitchen and working with the team to ensure repairs are completed by contracted professionals.
The position requires 10 hours of work per week, with flexible hours including weekends. Covering for other cooks during sickness or leave is also expected.
Candidates must have an enhanced DBS check and basic computer skills.
