The Consultant Practitioner role reports to the Team Manager providing leadership of practice through exemplary direct work; development of staff and specialist focus on a given area of practice. They are an expert practitioner who directly delivers or contributes to the delivery of positive safety and well-being outcomes for children. They will support other staff within the team to develop their level of practice and expertise and grow the confidence in their practice. The Consultant Practitioner would have a developed ability to deliver on outcomes and functions as a role model for their team through the effective exercise of engagement and relationship building, case holding, analytical and continuous assessment, high standard of report writing and case recording, making professional judgments and recommendations based on assessment and review. Successful candidate will be required to work in the office 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver or contribute to the delivery of positive safety and well-being outcomes for children.
  • Lead staff development and specialist practice in a specified area.
  • Engage and build relationships, hold cases, conduct analytical and continuous assessment.
  • Produce high-standard report writing and case recording, making professional judgments and recommendations based on assessment and review.
  • Maintain records evidencing engagement with children and families to inform the quality assurance framework, including quantitative, qualitative and outcome information.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience as a Senior Social Worker, Senior Practitioner or similar role.
  • Qualified Social Worker, up to date registered with Social Work England.
  • Foundation level systemic practice qualification – desirable.
  • Practice Educator or Practice Teacher qualification – desirable.
  • Knowledge of national policy, strategy and developments regarding children’s social care and relevant legislation, statutory guidance, standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant theoretical frameworks, practice models, research findings, and models of reflective supervision that impact on practice and outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain records that evidence engagement with children and families, informing the quality assurance framework.
