At Croydon Council, we're working to make it easier for people to find information and access services online. We provide essential services to more than 410,000 residents, supporting people at every stage of life. From protecting vulnerable children and adults, to collecting bins, maintaining parks, and keeping streets clean and safe, the council delivers services that local people rely on every day.

As part of the web and user experience team, you'll help ensure the information supporting these services is clear, accessible and easy to use. As a Content Designer, you'll write, edit and improve content across the council website. Working closely with teams across the organisation, you'll make sure content is accurate, up to date and focused on user needs. You'll identify opportunities to improve existing content, respond to service changes and use analytics, feedback and content best practice to make information easier to find and understand. You'll also help make sure the website meets accessibility standards, follows agreed content guidelines and is effectively managed through our Drupal content management system.

We're looking for someone with proven experience creating and managing user-centred web content. You'll have a strong understanding of plain language, accessibility requirements and writing for the web, along with experience using content management systems such as Drupal. You'll be confident working with a wide range of stakeholders, managing competing priorities and translating complex information into clear, user-friendly content that helps people find what they need and complete tasks online. Experience of content design within local government, the wider public sector or other complex organisations delivering services to large and diverse audiences would be an advantage.
