The Role

As Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will support the overall management of the restaurant, taking a hands-on leadership role across both breakfast and dinner service.

You will deputise in the absence of the Restaurant Manager, ensuring seamless operations, strong team performance, and exceptional guest experiences at all times.

This is a key leadership position focused on developing the team, driving revenue, maintaining compliance, and upholding the highest operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations & Leadership
  • Lead and manage shifts across breakfast and evening service, ensuring smooth, efficient operations
  • Deputise for the Restaurant Manager in their absence, taking full responsibility for the business
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures, ensuring all checks and standards are consistently met
  • Lead daily briefings and ensure clear communication across the team
  • Maintain consistency in service delivery and uphold brand standards at all times
  • Team Development
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of team members
  • Coach and mentor supervisors and team members to achieve their full potential
  • Act as a role model, setting high standards for service, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Drive team engagement and motivation to create a positive working environment
  • Commercial Performance
  • Drive covers, sales, and upselling opportunities to maximise revenue
  • Support the delivery of KPIs including labour, sales, and guest satisfaction targets
  • Monitor performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability
  • Rota & Payroll Management
  • Support with rota planning and make amendments in line with business needs and payroll budgets
  • Ensure labour is scheduled effectively to match demand while controlling costs
  • Monitor staffing levels throughout shifts and adjust where necessary
  • Guest Experience
  • Deliver and champion exceptional guest experiences, ensuring every guest feels welcomed and valued
  • Handle guest feedback professionally, resolving issues promptly and to a high standard
  • Build strong relationships with guests to encourage repeat business
  • Compliance, Cleanliness & Safety
  • Take responsibility for compliance checks, ensuring all legal and company standards are met
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation throughout the restaurant
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular checks and audits to maintain a safe and compliant working environment

About You

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Commercially aware with a passion for driving sales and performance
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Confident in managing rotas and labour budgets
  • Knowledge of compliance, health & safety, and operational standards
  • Passionate about delivering outstanding guest experiences
  • Positive, proactive, and motivated to progress further in management
