Your mission in CMbE
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Test Engineer to join our Assembly team and play a key role in programming, building, and testing electrical sub‐assemblies and complete machines. In this role, the candidate will ensure that all equipment operates to the highest standards by carrying out detailed testing, making wiring modifications, and performing fault‐finding activities as needed. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering teams to verify schematic drawings, provide constructive feedback, and support continuous improvement. The position also involves configuring PLCs, HMIs, drives, and remote I/O units, along with occasional minor software adjustments. Their contribution will be essential in ensuring machines are delivered fully tested, compliant, and ready for customer approval.
To succeed in this role, the candidate will bring a solid technical foundation, along with strong practical skills in testing high‐speed production machinery. They will have significant hands‐on experience in programming, testing, wiring, and problem solving, and will be confident in reading, understanding, and working from technical drawings. The ideal candidate should be comfortable diagnosing faults, applying modifications, and ensuring all work meets the required standards.
About you
The successful candidate must be an apprentice-trained Electrical Engineer or possess a minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, supported by an HNC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering. The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in a technical, hands‐on environment and enjoys working through complex problems with accuracy and confidence. They will be approachable, collaborative, and able to communicate clearly with customers and colleagues alike. They should take pride in delivering high‐quality work, be comfortable working independently when needed, and remain calm and solution‐focused when faced with new issues. A natural team player with a positive attitude, you will bring both technical expertise and a professional approach to every task, helping to ensure that our machinery meets expectations and performs reliably for our customers. Strong communication skills are important, as they will regularly collaborate with colleagues and support customer buy‐off activities. An organised and methodical approach to work is essential, as is a willingness to take on new challenges and contribute effectively within a multi‐functional team.
