About the Crown Prosecution Service
The Crown Prosecution Service is responsible for the independent and fair prosecution of criminal cases in England and Wales. Our duty is to make sure that the right person is prosecuted for the right offence, and to bring offenders to justice wherever possible. Our CPS Direct team support this vital work, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide legal decisions in high-priority cases.
About the role
As a Senior Crown Prosecutor in CPS Direct, you provide charging decisions and case management advice in serious criminal cases. Your work is home-based, reviewing evidence sent by the police during the weekend, bank holidays and overnight. You work independently, providing expert advice to help us deliver justice for victims of crime. Your commitment to out-of-hours work is rewarded with a premium allowance in your salary.
About you
We’re looking for qualified barristers and solicitors with post qualification criminal law experience. You must be able to independently review evidence, providing sound legal advice in time-sensitive situations. You understand our role within the criminal justice system, and you’re committed to helping us deliver justice for victims of crime.
