About the Crown Prosecution Service

We are responsible for delivering justice through the independent and fair prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority in England and Wales, the nature and diversity of cases we advise on and prosecute means our work is often emotionally challenging and complex.

About the role

As a paralegal assistant, you provide vital administrative and casework support on the frontline of our service. You work with the paralegal team to prepare cases for the magistrates’ and Crown Court – producing court documents, managing case files and briefing prosecutors. You liaise with criminal justice partners to ensure the smooth progression of cases, providing practical support to victims and witnesses of crime.

About you

We’re looking for people aged 18 or over with an interest in criminal law. You don’t need legal experience to apply - we offer full paralegal training to help you succeed in your role. If you’re highly organised, have excellent customer service skills and want to make a real difference in society, we’d like to hear from you.

  • 25 days leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service, plus bank holidays
  • 1 extra privilege day for the King’s birthday
  • competitive maternity, paternity and parental leave
  • £350 a year individual learning budget
  • wellbeing support and counselling
