Crown Oil Ltd is seeking a detail-oriented Software Tester to join our in-house development team. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of internally developed systems across the business, supporting a range of critical operational processes. The role involves a combination of manual testing and automation, working closely with developers and stakeholders in an Agile environment. This role is primarily office-based, with four days per week on-site in Bury (just off the M66). We offer free on-site parking and a modern, relaxed office environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual testing across internal systems and applications
- Design, write and maintain test cases and test scenarios
- Carry out exploratory testing to identify defects and usability issues
- Log, track and manage defects using Jira
- Validate bug fixes and ensure appropriate regression testing is completed
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive testing processes
- Support the growth of automation coverage across systems
- Contribute to integrating automated testing into development workflows
- Work closely with developers throughout the development lifecycle
- Review requirements to ensure clarity and testability
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives
- Provide clear feedback on quality risks and release readiness
- Contribute to improving QA processes, standards and tools
- Support a culture of quality across the development team
Essentials
- Experience in manual software testing within a development environment
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies (functional, regression, exploratory)
- Experience writing structured test cases and clear bug reports
- Experience using defect tracking tools such as Jira
- Experience working in an Agile or Scrum environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Desirable
- Exposure to automation tools such as Playwright
- Experience with other automation frameworks (e.g. Cypress, Selenium)
- Basic understanding of JavaScript or TypeScript
- Experience in testing CRM or business systems
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman
