We’re looking for a network-first engineer with CCNP-level skills who wants ownership — not tickets. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys switches, routing, VLANs, firewalls, Wi‑Fi, and improving networks properly across multiple sites. You’ll work closely with our Group Head of IT Infrastructure & Cyber Security and play a key role in standardising and maturing our network estate.
What You’ll Do
- Audit and tidy network cabinets across all group sites
- Replace unmanaged switches and standardise network setups
- Own switching (Cisco/Ubiquiti) and routing (OSPF, VLANs, inter‑VLAN)
- Manage Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate — training provided if needed)
- Improve Wi‑Fi performance and site connectivity
- Support Microsoft 365, Intune, VMware, Veeam
- Work across multiple sites with genuine autonomy and trust
What You Need
- CCNP (or CCNP‑level experience)
- Strong L2/L3 networking — VLANs, OSPF, STP, LACP
- Solid Cisco experience (Catalyst or similar)
- Firewall experience (Fortinet, Cisco, or equivalent)
- Comfortable with cabinet work, patching, and physical installs
- Full UK driving licence
The Setup
- Hours: 08:30 – 17:00, Monday to Friday
- Location: Onsite — Bury, Greater Manchester
- Travel: Required to Speedy (London) and Beesleys (Oldbury) — mileage covered / pool car available
- Team: Reporting to Group Head of IT Infrastructure & Cyber Security, with support from Lee Redfern
- Users: 400+ across multiple group sites
