We’re looking for a motivated and dependable Mid‑Level PHP Developer to join our development team in Bury. You’ll work primarily with Laravel and PHP, building and maintaining web applications that support our business and customers. This is a hybrid role with regular time in our Bury office combined with flexible remote working.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, test, and maintain web applications using PHP and the Laravel framework.
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, and other developers to deliver features from specification to production.
- Write clean, well‑documented, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.
- Build and consume APIs, integrate third‑party services, and work with relational databases (MySQL/Postgres).
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge‑sharing sessions to raise team quality.
- Troubleshoot, profile, and optimise application performance and reliability.
- Contribute to automated tests (unit, integration) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Support deployment and maintenance activities, including monitoring and incident response when required.
What You’ll Bring
- Practical experience working with PHP and the Laravel framework in a production environment.
- Good understanding of modern PHP practices, Composer, and PSR standards.
- Experience with relational databases (writing efficient SQL, migrations, indexing).
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and JSON‑based integrations.
- Comfortable using Git for version control and participating in pull request workflows.
- Basic knowledge of front‑end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is desirable.
- Ability to communicate clearly, work as part of a team, and take ownership of tasks.
- Willingness to work in a hybrid setup — part‑time in the Bury office and part‑time remote.
