Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Lettings Manager to support the performance and growth of a busy Central London lettings office. Working closely with the Lettings Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing the lettings team, ensuring strong deal conversion, maintaining high compliance standards and supporting the winning of new instructions. This is a hands‑on role combining team management, deal progression oversight, operational efficiency and business development support, ensuring the lettings department operates smoothly while delivering excellent service to landlords and tenants.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support the Lettings Negotiators, ensuring strong performance, high conversion rates and consistent achievement of team targets.
- Oversee the deal pipeline and progression, ensuring transactions move efficiently from offer stage through to tenancy completion.
- Ensure all deal files, documentation and tenancy records are accurate, complete and properly maintained.
- Maintain strong compliance standards, ensuring all lettings activities adhere to current UK legislation, including: right to rent, AML checks, deposit protection.
- Support the Lettings Manager in winning new instructions, assisting with market appraisals and landlord meetings.
- Submit offers and assist in negotiating tenancy terms between landlords and tenants to secure successful deals.
- Monitor team conversion rates, pipeline activity and deal progress, identifying opportunities to improve performance.
- Ensure the lettings operation runs efficiently, maintaining clear processes, accurate reporting and strong internal communication.
- Ensure negotiators are fully trained on new instructions, property details and company processes, enabling them to confidently present properties to applicants.
- Maintain excellent customer service standards and build strong long‑term relationships with landlords and tenants.
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience within a Central London residential lettings agency, ideally in a similar position or at Senior Negotiator level.
- Proven experience in deal conversion, deal progression, lettings operations or team supervision.
- Strong negotiation, communication and client management skills.
- Good understanding of UK lettings legislation and compliance requirements, including Right to Rent checks and tenancy processes.
- Ability to manage multiple deals and priorities in a fast‑paced lettings environment.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Professional, proactive and team‑oriented approach.
