We are seeking a General Maintenance Technician to join our site facilities team in Wantage, Oxfordshire. In this hands-on role, you will provide essential general maintenance support, completing assigned tasks across a range of disciplines to meet site standards and agreed response times. You will play a key part in supporting the existing maintenance team, helping to manage current workload demands and enabling colleagues to focus on their core responsibilities, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the site.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive general maintenance tasks including but not limited to painting and decorating, building fabric repairs, carpentry repairs, plumbing and drainage maintenance, building services maintenance, installation of fixtures and fittings, office furniture relocation.
- Complete scheduled planned maintenance activities, minor repair and alterations.
- Advise or attend when on rota out-of-hours emergencies.
- Carry out competent person/authorised person duties for relevant systems.
- Prepare equipment for thorough examination in line with inspection schedules.
- Provide maintenance assistance to other colleagues.
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors.
Required Education, Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- A recognised vocational qualification in a building services discipline.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a commercial/industrial maintenance environment.
- Building services/maintenance experience.
- Experience of working in a busy demand-led environment.
- Multi-discipline general maintenance skills.
- Working knowledge of building services/systems.
- Good personal organisational skills.
- Good understanding of the environment and general health and safety in the workplace.
- Good level of verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to trade.
- Work within deadlines.
- Use own initiative and work with minimal supervision.
- Flexible and positive attitude.
Desirable Education, Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- IOSH working safely or relevant experience.
- Asbestos awareness training.
- Legionella awareness training.
- IPAF PASMA Forklift operator licence.
- IT Skills/CAFM systems to record maintenance and work activities.
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing systems.
