We are recruiting several Mechanical Assembly Engineers and Fitters to join our site in Wortley, Leeds on a 12-Month Fixed Term Contract.

Mechanical Assembly Engineer 12 Month FTC

Your mission in CMbE: The successful candidates will be responsible for assembling and testing machinery and can making equipment using engineering drawings, machine build books and SOPs to produce quality work to the required standard.

The ideal candidate will have experience participating in non-conformance investigations, and in documenting relevant data. They will ensure compliance with stock control procedures and actively contribute to cost‑saving initiatives while providing constructive feedback to the improvement team.

Successful candidates must be able to prioritise workload whilst remaining calm under pressure. They will have strong problem‑solving, mechanical and technical skills and possess the ability to work autonomously. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high quality of work, adaptability, make sound judgements and take initiative.

About You

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within the Assembly and testing of Original Equipment Manufacturer machinery. The candidate must hold a minimum of a level 3 apprenticeship in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.

We require candidates to have good knowledge of Assembly Engineering activities including fitting and testing and a good understanding of Basic Lean Principles. The candidates must have good hand skills to assemble and test can‑making equipment to meet customer requirements.

Semi‑Skilled Mechanical Fitter 12 Month FTC

Your mission in CMbE: The successful candidates will be responsible for assisting in the assembly of machinery and equipment with the use of engineering drawings, machine build books and SOPs to produce quality work to the required standard.

They will have excellent attention to detail to assist in the assembly and testing of can making equipment to meet customer requirements, and a good understanding of Basic Lean Principles. The successful candidates must be able to demonstrate hand skills to execute non‑complex tasks and to build sub‑assemblies using standard SOPs and fixtures.

The successful candidates will be able to fit exterior equipment such as nameplates, labels, guard switches and auxiliary pumps. The candidates will have the ability to complete all shift documentation as required during the assembly of the components.

About You

Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of assembly fitting in a complex manufacturing environment and experience of working with high tolerances. An NVQ L3 in Mechanical Assembly or equivalent is desirable but not essential.

Candidates should have strong problem‑solving, mechanical and technical skills and possess the ability to work autonomously. The ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate a high quality of work, adaptability, make sound judgements and take initiative.
