Overview
We have a new vacancy for a number of Machinists to join our Machine Shop team in Shipley, West Yorkshire working on various shift patterns.
CarnaudMetalbox Engineering (CMbE) designs, develops, and manufactures high-performance metal forming and finishing machinery for the production of beverage, food, and aerosol cans.

Responsibilities
The candidates will possess the ability to manufacture and inspect parts according to drawing requirements, while ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date. They will audit areas to company 6\’s standards to operate and set machinery safely and efficiently, carry out operator tasks, replace and monitor cutting tools, communicate effectively with colleagues across shifts, deliver thorough end‑of‑shift handovers, and provide on‑the‑job training to apprentices and new employees. They should be capable of participating in non‑conformance investigations using techniques such as 5 Whys and 8 Disciplines (5Y/8D), and documenting relevant data.
Qualifications
Reporting to the Machine Shop Team Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating machine tools to manufacture engineering components, ensuring all parts meet the required standards and specifications while maintaining high machine efficiency. The applicant should have a strong working knowledge of manufacturing small batch complex components and ideally be an apprentice trained engineer (NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification minimum). Mechanical and technical flexibility enabling them to work unsupervised is required. Knowledge of Mazak, Heidenhain or Fanuc controls is desirable but not essential.
