Overview
We are looking for an Engineering Technician to join our team in Wantage, Oxfordshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to development project activities and manage equipment set‑up and modifications, sample manufacture, testing, and evaluation.
- Generate work instructions defining equipment use and test protocols.
- Deliver training, complete mandatory safety assessments and checks on new and existing equipment, and produce associated documentation.
- Organise and coordinate on‑site trials: find and source necessary documentation for trial—tooling specifications, engineering standards of manufacture, tool matches; locate tooling on site and complete setup of required equipment.
- Manufacture, measure, and evaluate samples using on‑site equipment for quality checks, distinguishing good product from bad product and determining necessary adjustments.
- Create and maintain safety documentation for equipment, train others, liaise with maintenance providers, fault‑find and provide support for resolution.
- Deputy duty holder if required, manage maintenance and upkeep of the area, maintain housekeeping/5S.
- Travel occasionally to UK and European Crown plants to support project trials.
Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3, plus HNC or equivalent (other engineering qualifications considered).
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering, including development, manufacture, assembly, commissioning or servicing of production tooling and equipment.
- Strong fitter's skills: assembling tooling, clocking and precision‑setting machines, producing samples to specification.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and data graphs.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and troubleshoot equipment/process issues.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to problem‑solve and work under pressure.
