We have a new vacancy for an Electrical Service Engineer to support the service department at CarnaudMetalbox Engineering. This is a full-time, permanent vacancy and candidates must be able to travel 200 days per year, including international travel.

Your mission in CMbE

The Electrical Service Engineer ensures the safe and effective installation, commissioning, and maintenance of CMbE machinery. The successful candidate will be maintaining and enhancing electrical and software control systems, including making modifications to PLC, HMI, VFD, and servo drive software as required. The role also involves providing remote technical support to customers and assisting the Electrical Engineering Department during periods of reduced service demand, ensuring a consistent and high-quality level of technical support across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with complex, high-volume production capital equipment, alongside strong expertise in control system architecture, design, and programming using Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and Siemens S7/TIA Portal. They will also have hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 525 and 753 and Siemens G120 variable frequency drives, as well as practical experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens servo drive and motor control applications, ensuring efficient and reliable machine performance.

About You

The successful candidate should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in electrical service and the commissioning of high-speed machinery. The candidate must be apprentice trained and hold as a minimum an NVQ L3 in an Electrical Engineering discipline, with experience working as an Electrical or Test Engineer, being able to demonstrate strong hands-on experience. The candidate will have a sound understanding of regenerative and dynamic braking techniques, as well as strong knowledge of industrial Ethernet networks such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, and PROFIsafe, alongside familiarity with legacy systems including PROFIBUS and DeviceNet. Experience with IFM and Turck sensors and instrumentation covering pressure, temperature, proximity, and flow devices is also required, supporting effective monitoring, control, and continuous improvement within an industrial engineering environment. A solid understanding of control panel design, including form and function, is essential, along with working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical (2017) and familiarity with safety PLC systems, including VFD Safe Torque Off (STO) and safe stop functions.
