About this opportunity:
Primarily responsible for providing, developing and maintaining a secure, reliable and performant Server & Storage infrastructure which hosts the EMEA IT systems used by the organisation to facilitate their business processes. This role is also responsible for the ongoing maintenance, operation and continuous improvement of the EMEA Division’s Data Centres, Backups and Disaster Recovery solutions and processes as well as server and system performance monitoring.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of a secure, reliable, and high-performing server and data centre infrastructure.
- Ensure rapid incident response, root cause analysis, and service improvement for server and performance-related issues.
- Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery, backup, and resilience capabilities that meet RTO and RPO objectives.
- Align infrastructure strategy and capacity planning with current and future business requirements while controlling costs.
- Identify, assess, and implement new technologies and standards to enhance infrastructure performance and operational efficiency.
- Oversee the operational support of all internal and third-party server infrastructure and shared platforms.
- Collaborate across Crown divisions and IT teams to align infrastructure strategies, standards, and operational practices.
- Ensure compliance with governance, audit, regulatory, licensing, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Define, maintain, and audit server, data centre, and performance monitoring standards, documentation, and environments.
- Manage, develop, and motivate the Data Centre and Performance team to maximise capability, engagement, and performance.
Required education and qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology subject (or similar)
- Certified in ITIL Foundation
- PRINCE2 qualification
Required knowledge and experience:
- IS background with at least 5 years’ working with a Microsoft based IS Infrastructure
- Detailed knowledge of Hypervisor Technologies (ie VMware)
- Detailed knowledge of Server technologies, solutions, procedures & processes.
- Clear understanding of Hybrid Storage systems, technologies and pros/cons.
- Strong understanding of performance monitoring technologies.
- Can demonstrate a history of developing & implementing new server platforms.
- Understanding of IT within a manufacturing or other 24/7 environment is essential.
- Co-ordinated activities across multiple geographies.
- Previous experience working with outsourcers would be beneficial.
- Knowledge or experience of automation/orchestration (Ansible, Terraform) and container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker swarm) would be highly beneficial.
- Prior experience working in a regulated industry (SOX, ISO).
