The Research Scientist role involves conducting in vitro cell based and biochemical assays for clients and research projects, analysing data generated from assays and preparing written reports for in vitro/biomarker studies. It may also involve performing tissue culture for in vitro studies and where required in vivo projects. The holder of the role will also contribute to the running of the in vitro/biomarker lab.

Key responsibilities:
  • To perform a range of in vitro and biomarker assays to contribute to client studies
  • The preparation of written study reports for in vitro studies
  • To perform tissue culture and expand cells appropriately to be used for in vitro and in vivo studies
  • Operate FACS instruments to isolate specific cell populations from complex samples
  • To liaise with other departments to schedule in work to fit in with deadlines
  • To identify problems associated with their experiments, discuss and agree solutions with supervisor and other team members
  • To be responsible for and ensure that the results of experiments are recorded accurately in a timely fashion to the required standard
  • To effectively communicate results to other members of the team or other functions as required
  • To proactively contribute to and suggest ways of improving Crown Bioscience UK’s processes in the workplace
  • To learn and apply new scientific methods and show self-awareness regarding personal and technical training needs
Technical Requirement:
  • A strong understanding of in vitro studies
  • An ability to perform cell based assays accurately and reproducibly
  • Biochemical and molecular biology methods (such as Western Blot, qPCR)
  • Flow cytometry
  • IHC
  • Good aseptic cell culture techniques
  • Significant experience working with cell cultures
  • Analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and GraphPad Prism
Education and Experience:
  • PhD or equivalent in relevant discipline
  • At least 2 years FACS experience in an in vitro lab environment
