Role Purpose
The role will provide senior commercial and product leadership for the Bank’s Payments and FX propositions, with responsibility for shaping, prioritising and delivering a commercially focused product roadmap that supports client growth, revenue generation and global strategic objectives. Working closely across Product, Commercial, Technology, Operations, Trading, Treasury and Strategy, the role will ensure market and client requirements are translated into scalable, differentiated and commercially compelling solutions, including Empower FX. The role will also act as a key contributor to the Product Transformation Programme and will lead the identification and embedding of AI-enabled opportunities across the financial market’s organisation to improve productivity, client engagement, market insight and execution.
Role Responsibilities
- Own the Payments & FX product roadmap — develop, prioritise and deliver the roadmap for Payments and Empower FX in partnership with the Group Head of Payments and UK Sales Head, ensuring investment is focused on the highest commercial opportunities.
- Translate commercial needs into products — represent global Sales and client requirements, prioritising needs by region, sector and commercial potential and translating them into differentiated, scalable propositions.
- Drive Product Transformation — act as a key Front Office representative and contributor to the wider Product and Business Transformation Programme led by the COO, ensuring transformation remains commercially focused and delivers measurable outcomes.
- Lead AI adoption across the Front Office — own and facilitate the identification, prioritisation and embedding of AI use cases across Sales, Trading, and Treasury and the wider commercial organisation to improve productivity, client engagement and revenue generation.
- Set world-class product standards — establish best-in-class product development, governance, prioritisation and commercialisation disciplines, driving a culture of pace, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Drive innovation and market insight — monitor global Payments, FX, fintech and financial-services trends by region and sector, translating emerging developments into product opportunities and competitive advantage.
- Support the stablecoin commercialisation — in collaboration with sector heads and SVP of client and partnership success ensure the successful deployment and commercialisation of stablecoin-enabled Payments and FX solutions, working across Product, Technology, Risk, Compliance and Sales.
- Partner with Sales on commercialisation and co-own KPIs — ensure new products and propositions are commercially ready, well positioned and effectively taken to market, supporting client acquisition, adoption and wallet growth.
- Provide senior leadership and execution — bring strong financial and strategic acumen, make clear prioritisation decisions, manage competing demands and deliver critical initiatives to tight deadlines across a complex stakeholder environment.
Qualifications
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience, ideally in finance, economics, business, technology, product management or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional qualifications or certifications would be advantageous, such as product management, payments, treasury, financial markets, project/change management or digital transformation.
- Evidence of continued professional development in areas such as payments innovation, FX, fintech, AI, data, digital transformation or regulated financial services would be desirable.
Experience
- Significant senior-level experience in financial services, fintech, payments, FX, transaction banking or a related commercial/product environment.
- Proven track record of leading payments, FX or financial markets product strategy, roadmap development and commercialisation.
- Strong understanding of cross-border payments, FX products, client propositions, market infrastructure, regulatory expectations and operational delivery.
- Experience working across front office, product, technology, operations, risk, compliance, treasury and trading teams to deliver commercial outcomes.
- Demonstrable experience turning client, market and sales requirements into scalable, commercially viable products or propositions.
- Experience leading or contributing to major product transformation, digital transformation or business change programmes.
- Strong commercial acumen, with evidence of supporting revenue growth, client acquisition, product adoption and improved client outcomes.
- Experience using data, technology and/or AI-enabled solutions to improve sales effectiveness, client engagement, productivity or decision-making would be advantageous.
- Experience operating in a regulated banking or financial services environment, with sound judgement around governance, conduct, risk and control expectations.
- Prior people leadership experience, including leading senior stakeholders, cross-functional teams or direct reports.
