The Business Advisory & Accounting Assistant will support qualified staff, managers and senior managers in the delivery of accounting and advisory services to a varied portfolio of clients. The role provides exposure to management reporting, financial statement preparation, corporation tax, bookkeeping and day-to-day finance support, enabling the individual to build strong technical foundations and develop an understanding of how clients’ businesses operate. The role will also involve developing professional relationships with clients and, over time, taking increasing responsibility for day-to-day client interaction. As experience and professional studies progress, the individual will be expected to assume broader responsibilities and contribute to more complex assignments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts under UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports for a varied client base.
  • Undertake bookkeeping, reconciliations and day-to-day finance support using software such as Xero, QuickBooks and NetSuite.
  • Prepare working papers and maintain accurate accounting records to support client deliverables.
  • Assist with VAT, employer taxes and basic corporation tax compliance.
  • Develop technical knowledge and continue building accounting, finance and advisory skills appropriate to the role.
  • Manage assigned work effectively, ensuring delivery to agreed deadlines and assuming increasing responsibility as appropriate.
  • Communicate with clients on routine matters, respond to queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work closely with colleagues and clients to support the delivery of a high-quality, responsive service.
Training and development
  • Support to continue ACCA or ACA studies within a collaborative team environment.
  • Hands‑on experience, supported by guidance from experienced colleagues.
  • Opportunities to develop technical skills and commercial awareness.
  • A clear platform for progression as experience and professional studies develop.
Requirements
  • Studying towards ACCA or ACA.
  • Around one to two years’ experience in accountancy practice or a similar environment.
  • A proactive, ambitious and collaborative approach, with the ability to learn quickly, take ownership of assigned tasks and manage priorities effectively.
  • Comfortable working with accounting technology and digital tools, with an aptitude for learning new systems quickly and adapting to changing ways of working.
  • Experience of accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Caseware and IRIS would be advantageous.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to take on new challenges.
