Overview
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Assistant Manager to join our growing Financial Reporting team in a Top 15 UK accountancy firm.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and high-profile accounting projects, lead client relationships, and work with a team of talented professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements compliant with FRS 102, FRS 101, and IFRS, both standalone and consolidated.
- Creating processes and controls to improve accounts preparation efficiency.
- Ensuring all statutory accounts are prepared to the highest quality.
- Liaising with both internal and external clients and delivering accounts in a timely manner.
- Providing feedback and training the team on financial reporting as and when required.
- Encouraging the personal development of your team members.
- Communicating downward any significant changes in financial reporting.
- Profitably building on existing relationships with clients to win more work from them.
- Full responsibility of monthly WIP and costs on your portfolio.
- Working with fellow managers in developing the department.
- Ensure all client reporting deadlines are met with high standards of accuracy and compliance.

Requirements
- Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA or equivalent) with 1–2 years post-qualified experience.
- Significant accounting experience (both UKGAAP and IFRS), experience in audit being an advantage.
- Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients requiring technical support and supervising staff.
- The ability to research, write and provide professional training to fellow team members.
- Strong knowledge in accounting software, especially accounts preparation (Caseware and IRIS being an advantage.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with clients.
- Commercial awareness and ability to apply technical knowledge pragmatically.
- Contribute to thought leadership and internal articles.
