The role is within the Corporate Tax department, assisting managers, directors and partners to manage taxation relationship services for a portfolio of clients which includes OMBs, listed companies, multinational groups, and private equity backed businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Accept responsibility for a portfolio of clients and prioritise work as necessary.
  • Act as the primary contact for most clients throughout the tax cycle, ensuring that tax matters are raised proactively and communicated to the client.
  • Manage client and third‑party relationships from initial set‑up meetings, liaising with other advisors, to ongoing service issues on the allocated portfolio.
  • Prepare tax computations and returns, calculate tax liabilities and advise clients accordingly.
  • Prepare deferred tax calculations, tax reconciliations and tax disclosures for inclusion within statutory accounts.
  • Review the preparation of work by peers and more junior members of the team.
  • Consider tax planning opportunities and identify opportunities to increase the client base and develop cross‑departmental working opportunities.
  • Build relationships and work closely with other departments such as audit and business solutions to deliver client work.
  • Deal with client queries efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Work within an agreed fee, set deadlines and assist with monthly client billing.
  • Support senior managers, directors and partners in advisory matters.
  • Handle ad‑hoc tasks including technical research as and when required.

Qualifications

  • Relevant professional qualification (CTA, ACA or equivalent) with excellent working knowledge and experience of corporate tax compliance, advisory work and tax planning projects.
  • Experience managing a client portfolio.
  • Proven soft skills: monitoring and keeping to deadlines, building effective client relationships, exemplary written and verbal communication, strong organisation and multi‑tasking abilities.
  • Confidence when dealing with clients' day‑to‑day compliance affairs.
  • Competence in drafting tax disclosures for statutory accounts purposes.
  • A flair for understanding advisory work and anticipating client needs before they arise.
  • Business awareness and an interest in business development and promotion of initiatives.
  • Experience reviewing work of junior staff and providing on‑the‑job training, guidance and support for fellow team members.
  • Experience with relevant tax software such as Alphatax (useful but not essential; training will be provided).
