About The Role
Join our leading Falcon Data Protection team, which safeguards organizations\’ sensitive data through advanced data loss prevention capabilities integrated seamlessly into the Falcon platform. This innovative solution combines machine learning, policy enforcement, and real-time detection to protect against data breaches while maintaining endpoint performance and user productivity.
This is a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) position on our Falcon Data Protection product development team, focusing on our advanced endpoint sensor technology. As key contributors to the team, SDETs leverage their strong software development skills to architect and implement sophisticated testing frameworks, automated tools, and specialized test harnesses. You\’ll ensure our quality standards are met across all new capabilities while actively participating in technical design discussions and code reviews. Working closely with development teams, you\’ll help ensure robust end-to-end data protection functionality. We\’re seeking talented engineers who thrive on technical challenges and take ownership of their work, contributing to our culture where quality is paramount.
Success In This Role Means
- Automating test processes for speed, reproducibility, and scalability. You will build integration tests, unit tests, system tests, performance tests and more.

What You\’ll Do
- Work closely with a team of engineers to support and maintain a culture of high product quality and excellence
- Analyze complex sensor software features, and build effective test strategies and test designs
- Extend our existing codebase utilizing C++, Python, and other tools and DSLs (domain specific languages) to increase the testability and debuggability of sensor code
- Design and implement specialized tests for system-wide qualities including performance, scalability, compatibility across multiple OS platforms, and resource utilization
- Work collaboratively with product and release management to control risk, improve quality, and streamline our release cycles
- Debug complex sensor issues found through testing or customer cases to identify root cause and enhance test coverage
- Lead rigorous product and test code reviews with an eye towards improving the security and robustness of the sensor system
- Leverage your understanding of engineering best practices, including secure coding, testing paradigms, debugging, performance measurement, code reviews, CI/CD and OS internals, to ensure optimal sensor performance and reliability
What You’ll Need
- 5+ years of hands-on SDET/test automation development experience
- Computer science degree or equivalent experience
- Strong programming skills in Python and ability to read & understand C/C++ code
- Extensive experience with:
- White-box testing techniques and code review
- CI/CD frameworks and testing methodologies
- Windows OS internals, components, and APIs
- Performance profiling tools and crash dump analysis
- Design and implement comprehensive test strategies
- Lead and mentor team members
- Work effectively in a globally distributed team
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to various audiences
- Proven track record in product development and release cycles
Bonus Points
- Prior experience working with low-level code, or any Mac/Win/Linux module development.
- Knowledge of low-level operating system internals, components, APIs, and design, for one or more of our supported platforms (Windows, macOS, Linux).
- Prior experience with pytest, Jenkins or Javascript
- Understanding Event Driven architecture and cloud native technologies
- Experience developing 24/7 enterprise software, including CI, testing, debugging, performance tracing, release management, telemetry analysis and issue handling
