Crowcon Detection Instruments Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Halma plc. We design and manufacture life‑saving products for 50 years, protecting people from toxic and flammable gases.
Responsibilities
- Servicing, calibrating and repairing electronic gas detection equipment to relevant standards.
- Ensure all serviced products are tested and left fully operational, demonstrating to the site responsible person and recording this on service paperwork.
- Support other team members on jobs that require multiple engineers.
- Provide customer user training when required – once experienced.
- Work closely with the Service Admin team to schedule jobs efficiently and meet customers’ requirements.
- Complete service reports accurately and submit them on time.
- Prepare RAMs and POWRAs when required (training given).
- Manage van stock and calibration gas, ensuring life‑critical components are cycled regularly for a first‑time fix.
- Maintain PPE and service equipment within inspection dates and keep service clothing clean and respectable.
- Cover a geographical area based from Swindon / M4 / M5 Corridor (required) and other areas for 2‑man jobs.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND in electronics/electrical field or equivalent technical qualification (preferred – Crowcon will provide full product training).
- Previous Field Service Engineering experience is an advantage but not required.
- Experience in electronic equipment service, troubleshooting, repair.
- Commissioning and/or installation experience desirable.
- Excellent customer communication skills in both writing and verbal.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
- Confined Space, IPAF and Safety Passport preferable, but full training provided.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks when using access equipment or accessing confined spaces.
