Position:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated Surveyor to join our professional commercial team in our North Thames region. Reporting to the Commercial Director, your primary responsibility will be to manage the financial administration of the procurement and payment of subcontractors and other similar bodies operating on Company developments, ensuring the Company achieves value for money and provides regular updates on the financial performance of each site.
Some of the Key responsibilities:
- Manage Surveyors and Assistant Surveyors as allocated, provide support as required and arrange training as necessary. Report progress and development needs to Building Manager.
- Prepare a formal order which is to be placed with the successful subcontractor no later than commencement of the works. Notify all unsuccessful subcontractors.
- Produce the building estimate for each site, within 12 weeks of site commencement, for the approval of the Building Manager. Ensure all costs known at the time of preparing the estimate are included either as actual amounts or provisions, including current sales values, advise whenever estimated costs are used. Present final draft to Building Director with analysis to previous estimates.
- Develop positive relationships with all subcontractors and suppliers seeking continuous improvements in quality.
- Negotiate contract values and cost variations with the objective of achieving best value.
Key requirements:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying.
- Approximately 5-7 years+ relevant work experience.
- Excellent IT skills (good working knowledge of MS Excel and spreadsheets).
- Excellent numerical skills and an understanding of financial administration.
- Analytical mind and methodical approach.
