A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an assistant surveyor to join our commercial team in Caterham. You will assist with Commercial management of residential housing schemes, with a focus on procurement, payments and day to day running of a project. Ensuring the Company achieves value for money, whilst continuing to deliver 5-star quality housing.
Some of your key responsibilities:
- Be fully conversant and comply with the procedures as set out for the Commercial Department.
- Attend pre-starts with Senior Surveyor and preparation of subcontract orders following sign off.
- Working closely with the project team, with regular site visits to monitor sub-contractor performance and works completed so valuations/applications can be checked for accuracy.
- Ensure invoices/applications received by the sub-contractors are reviewed and approved ready for payment in line with contractual terms using COINS system.
- Review of any variation works with the Senior Surveyor.
- Assist with the preparation and agreement of sub-contract final accounts.
- Assisting with monthly CVR reporting.
- Good understanding of the build cost process and forecasting throughout the project.
Requirements:
- HNC qualified at least or enrolled in course.
- Approximately 1-2 years relevant work experience preferred, but recent graduate could perform the role.
- Excellent IT skills (good working knowledge of MS excel and spreadsheets).
- Excellent numerical skills and an understanding of financial management.
- Analytical mind and methodical approach.
- Good construction knowledge.
- Experience of Coins desirable, but not essential.
