Apprentice Engineer
We are currently looking for a Apprentice Engineer (Level 6) to join our technical team based in Letchworth, Hertfordshire, reporting into the Senior Engineer.
What you\’ll be doing:
As an Apprentice Engineer, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside qualified Engineers while studying part-time through day release to complete your academic qualifications at the University of Hertfordshire. You will support the technical team by assisting in the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation required to secure planning, building, highway, and drainage approvals. Your work will play a key role in helping developments progress from initial concept through to on-site construction.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you will develop a strong understanding of engineering principles by applying your academic learning directly to real-world projects. You will assist with tasks such as gathering site data, preparing technical drawings using AutoCAD, designing foundations and drainage systems, and attending site visits. This is an excellent opportunity to build a solid foundation in civil engineering while working towards a recognised qualification and long-term career.
Skills & knowledge you\’ll bring:
You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including a grade C in Maths and English
A levels at grades BBB – BBC (including Maths at grade C and ideally a science subject) or BTEC extended diploma DDM-DMM in Engineering, with Distinction in Further Maths. (A level must include at least one of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Computing/Computer Science, Design & Technology, Electronics, Engineering, ICT, Further Maths, Music Technology, Physics, or Statistics), UCAS Points: 112-120
A passion to work in the house building & construction industry
Organised and able to work to multiple, changing deadlines and motivated to drive own development
Ability to work well within a team with good communication and influencing skills
Able to use Microsoft packages
