This role is offered by Crouch Waterfall, a subsidiary of Vulcain Engineering Group. As part of the Vulcain family, Crouch Waterfall brings decades of specialist experience in Civil, Structural, and Geotechnical Engineering to a wide range of UK infrastructure projects. Crouch Waterfall specialise in core areas of Bridges, Rail, Infrastructure, Buildings and Geotechnical Services, designing and co-ordinating projects from conception to completion. Established since 1981, the business has enjoyed steady growth driven by a committed and highly skilled workforce of 120 employees. Due to business growth, we’re looking for a Senior Engineer (Drainage & Infrastructure) to join our multi-disciplinary team in Basingstoke. Reporting to the Associate leading the discipline, the Senior Engineer will oversee drainage and infrastructure design for multiple UK projects, supporting engineers and technicians on schemes ranging from small domestic works to £20m developments. Our projects span commercial, public sector, rail, domestic, and temporary works, offering variety and the chance to broaden your expertise.
Some of the main responsibilities will include:
- Prepare the detailed design of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, delivering drainage, highways and associated works across residential, commercial, education and leisure developments.
- Lead and coordinate project delivery, managing the full lifecycle of schemes while overseeing programme, quality and stakeholder engagement.
- Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues, helping them develop practical, high-quality solutions.
- Build strong client relationships, taking full ownership of liaison throughout delivery to confirm scope and deliverables, while identifying opportunities to secure and maximise future work.
- Produce flood risk assessments and planning documentation.
- Conduct inspections, site surveys, and technical assessments, producing detailed reports to inform design and project delivery.
- Review, check, and approve designs produced by others, providing feedback and ensuring technical excellence.
- Support business growth by contributing to the preparation of tenders and fee proposals.
This role offers true project ownership from bid stage to delivery, combining hands-on technical responsibility with the opportunity to mentor others and progress into a leadership position. Preferred Experience:
- Proficiency in Causeway Flow or MicroDrainage (Causeway Flow preferred).
- Skilled in AutoCAD Civil 3D, with proven experience in drainage design for residential, commercial, or other relevant building projects.
- Knowledge of flood risk assessments and planning support.
- Ideally Chartered (ICE) or working towards it.
- Experience and knowledge of UK design standards and planning requirements.
- Sector experience in infrastructure design is preferred.
- A client-focused approach, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence and own transport.
- Fluency in English language and the permanent right to work in the UK, alongside UK project experience.
