The Position:
Due to business growth, we’re looking for a Principal and Senior Drainage & Infrastructure Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team in Basingstoke or Bristol. Reporting to the Associate leading the discipline, the Senior & Principal Engineer will oversee drainage and infrastructure design for multiple UK projects, supporting engineers and technicians on schemes ranging from small domestic works to £20m developments. Our projects span commercial, public sector, rail, domestic, and temporary works, offering variety and the chance to broaden your expertise.
Responsibilities
- Lead on the design of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, managing the full life-cycle of your own project workload – including drainage design, highways design, and related works for residential, commercial, education, and leisure developments.
- Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues, helping them develop practical, high-quality solutions.
- Build strong client relationships, taking full ownership of liaison throughout delivery to confirm scope and deliverables, while identifying opportunities to secure and maximise future work.

- Conduct inspections, site surveys, and technical assessments, producing detailed reports to inform design and project delivery.
- Review, check, and approve designs produced by others, providing feedback and ensuring technical excellence.
- Lead the preparation of tenders and fee proposals to support business growth.
In either role, you’ll take ownership of projects from proposal to completion – working closely with clients, leading design, and supporting the team to deliver practical, innovative solutions. At Principal level, you’ll also manage other engineers and contribute towards their professional growth; the Senior Engineer will work independently on their own projects and support colleagues, with opportunities to step into leadership.
