Crouch Waterfall specialise in core areas of Bridges, Rail, Infrastructure, Buildings and Geotechnical Services, designing and co-ordinating projects from conception to completion. Established since 1981, the business has enjoyed steady growth driven by a committed and highly skilled workforce of 120 employees.

Due to ongoing business growth, we have a new opportunity for a Senior Engineer to deliver innovative structural solutions for a diverse range of building projects across the UK. Our portfolio spans commercial developments, residential schemes, education facilities, healthcare buildings, and complex industrial structures. We are also open to appointing an experienced Engineer who is motivated and capable of progressing towards a Senior Engineer role.

As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping these projects, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams while supporting and mentoring less experienced engineers. You will also receive dedicated support and mentoring to develop towards Principal Engineer level - something we are genuinely passionate about. If you’re passionate about structural engineering and want to work on challenging, high-profile projects for respected clients, we’d love to hear from you.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Senior Structural Engineer will include:

  • Lead and coordinate the technical delivery, resources and day-to-day activities across a range of projects, delivering civil and structural solutions for a diverse mix of building types, ensuring delivery to programme and budget.
  • Support and mentor Engineers, Graduates and Technicians, sharing technical knowledge and contributing to the development of less experienced team members.
  • Maintain high standards of technical quality by checking and reviewing work prepared by others, while taking a hands-on role in the delivery of more complex or challenging design elements.
  • Carry out inspections including site surveys and structural assessments, and prepare clear and accurate technical reports.
  • Contribute to client relationships through regular liaison with internal and external stakeholders, helping to ensure project scope is understood and deliverables are achieved.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure compliance with current technical standards, best practice, and quality, safety, environmental and sustainability procedures.
  • Support wider business development activities by contributing technical input to proposals and helping to identify opportunities within existing projects and client relationships.

Preferred Profile:

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Proven experience in the design of structures, ideally from a design consultancy setting.
  • Sector experience in buildings (commercial, education, residential, healthcare) is preferred, but applicants with broader infrastructure or construction backgrounds are welcome.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical scopes, either through technical/project leadership, or mentoring other engineers.
  • Working towards or already Chartered (ICE or IStructE).
  • Comfortable operating in client-facing environments, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English language and the permanent right to work in the UK, alongside UK project experience.
  • Reside locally to Bristol or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.

You’ll be part of a supportive team with an open-door culture, where your voice is heard and your ideas matter. We offer the chance to work across sectors - with proven success helping engineers move from buildings and commercial projects into infrastructure and heavy industry.

We offer a competitive salary tailored to your experience and background. We also offer a benefits package, both standard and enhanced, which is designed to support your wellbeing, development, and financial future, including:

  • Hybrid working set-up, with flexible working hours.
  • Casual office attire and a relaxed and comfortable working environment.
