This role is offered by Crouch Waterfall, a subsidiary of Vulcain Engineering Group. As part of the Vulcain family, Crouch Waterfall brings decades of specialist experience in Civil, Structural, and Geotechnical Engineering to a wide range of UK infrastructure projects. Crouch Waterfall specialise in core areas of Bridges, Rail, Infrastructure, Buildings and Geotechnical Services, designing and co-ordinating projects from conception to completion. Established since 1981, the business has enjoyed steady growth driven by a committed and highly skilled workforce of 120 employees.
Due to business growth, we’re looking for a Civil Engineer (Drainage & Infrastructure) to join our multi-disciplinary team in Basingstoke. Reporting to the discipline lead, you will play a key role in the hands-on design and delivery of drainage and infrastructure schemes across a range of UK projects. Our projects span commercial, public sector, rail, domestic, and temporary works - offering real variety and the opportunity to broaden your technical expertise.
Some of the main responsibilities will include:
- Prepare detailed designs for civil engineering and infrastructure projects, delivering drainage, highways and associated works across residential, commercial, education and leisure developments.
- Produce technical drawings, calculations and reports to support planning and construction stages.
- Assist in the preparation of flood risk assessments and drainage strategies.
- Undertake site visits, inspections and surveys to inform design development.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver projects to programme and quality standards.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities and stakeholders as required throughout project delivery.
- Support senior colleagues in the preparation of tenders and fee proposals.
This role offers genuine hands-on technical exposure across the full project lifecycle, with structured support and mentoring to help you progress technically and work towards Chartership. While we have set out our ideal experience profile below, we’re always keen to hear from Engineers interested in opportunities across civil, structural and geotechnical engineering.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience using Causeway Flow or MicroDrainage (Causeway Flow preferred).
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and drainage design for residential, commercial, or similar projects.
- Understanding of UK design standards and planning requirements.
- Awareness of flood risk assessments and planning support documentation.
- Working towards Chartered status (ICE) or with the ambition to do so.
- Experience and knowledge of UK design standards and planning requirements.
- Sector experience in infrastructure design is preferred.
- A proactive and collaborative approach, with strong communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence and own transport.
- Fluency in English and the permanent right to work in the UK, alongside UK project experience.
