We are looking for a highly experienced Data Architect / Principal Data Engineer with deep, hands-on GCP expertise to support a major data transformation programme within a regulated financial services environment. This is not an advisory role. We need someone who has personally designed, built and owned enterprise-scale GCP data platforms in production and can lead both architecture and delivery.
Key Requirements
- 7+ years' hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Proven experience designing and building production-grade data platforms using:
- BigQuery
- Dataflow
- Pub/Sub
- Python
- APIs and containerised services
- Strong data architecture experience, including conceptual, logical and physical data modelling
- Experience establishing governance frameworks, metadata management, data quality standards and AI-ready data foundations
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD delivery practices
- Strong stakeholder engagement and technical leadership skills
- Financial Services experience is highly desirable, ideally within a regulated environment and large-scale data transformation programme
The Opportunity
You'll be responsible for defining data architecture, establishing platform standards and governance, and delivering scalable cloud-native solutions on GCP. This role requires someone who can operate strategically while remaining hands-on and technically credible.
