As a Relief Support Practitioner at Dumbrock House, you will support children and young people within a residential setting, helping to create a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment. Working as part of a supportive team, you will build positive relationships, promote stability and support young people to feel understood, respected and encouraged to develop. This is a relief role, offering flexibility to support the service as required.

What you will do:

  • Support children and young people with emotional, behavioural and social needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships using a relational and trauma-informed approach
  • Support day-to-day routines, including personal care, meals and activities
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies
  • Promote inclusion, wellbeing and positive engagement within the home and community
  • Support young people to attend appointments, activities and family contact
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and reports
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals

About you:

You will be caring, resilient and reflective, with a genuine interest in supporting children and young people who may have experienced trauma or disruption. You may already hold an SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care Children and Young People and HNC level, or be willing to work towards these qualifications. You will be confident working flexibly, able to build strong relationships and committed to achieving positive outcomes for young people. A UK manual driving licence is required. This role requires membership of the PVG Scheme and registration with the SSSC, or willingness to register.
