Our CrossReach Counselling and Recovery team is a values led service committed to delivering high quality therapeutic support to people facing emotional and psychological challenges. Through compassionate, ethical and professional practice, we aim to provide life changing and life enhancing services. We work collaboratively to create safe spaces for healing and growth, empowering clients to navigate their journeys with dignity and hope.
As a Volunteer Counsellor with CrossReach you will be based out of our Tom Allan Centre in Glasgow city centre, providing a professional counselling service to clients. We will offer the training needed for you to practise within our guidelines and to support your development when you join the team.
Applicants should hold a diploma in counselling or be working towards one and have completed readiness to practise; a minimum of 50 clinical hours is also required. Those wishing to see clients online should have completed an ACTO approved online training course. We will discuss at interview the number of clients you will see, completion of associated case work, the hours you can volunteer and your availability to attend group supervision. If you join as a volunteer counsellor, we will ask for the name and contact details of your external supervisor.
Once you have passed your interview stage, we will apply for a PVG Membership for you, whether this is a new membership or an update. We seek openness and respect towards CrossReach’s Christian ethos.
CrossReach Counselling is an organisational member of COSCA and adheres to COSCA’s Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice. All our practitioners are qualified and registered with a Professional Standards Authority recognised professional body, or are in the process of gaining their qualification. This ensures that your practitioner meets the standards required to support clients safely and effectively.
Applicants selected for interview will be invited to a Recruitment and Selection Evening on 14 January 2026. We are primarily seeking experienced counsellors or students in their second year of training.
