As a Support Worker in our Community Support and Holiday Service, you'll help adults with learning disabilities build confidence, develop independence and enjoy fulfilling lives. From supporting people to access work, education and leisure opportunities to accompanying them on holidays, you'll help make every day meaningful.

What you will do

  • Support individuals to achieve their personal goals and aspirations
  • Encourage independence and build confidence in everyday life
  • Support people to access employment, education, volunteering and leisure opportunities
  • Accompany individuals to community activities, appointments and holidays
  • Support people's health and wellbeing, including physical activities where appropriate
  • Build positive relationships with individuals, families and other professionals
  • Complete accurate records using digital systems
  • Promote dignity, choice and person centred support

About you

You'll be caring, enthusiastic and passionate about helping people live full and independent lives. You'll enjoy building relationships, working creatively and encouraging people to try new experiences. You'll have good communication skills, basic IT skills and enjoy working as part of a supportive team.

Experience in social care is welcomed but not essential, as full training will be provided. You will hold, or be willing to achieve, an SVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Social Care (depending on the role), or an equivalent qualification that meets Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration requirements. Experience or a qualification in supporting autistic people would be welcomed but isn't essential. This role requires membership of the PVG Scheme and registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks. You will also be required to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.
