As a Lead Practitioner, you will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing and therapeutic home for children and young people. Alongside building positive relationships, you will provide leadership on shift, supporting colleagues to deliver high-quality care while ensuring children and young people experience stability, opportunity and a genuine sense of belonging.

What you will do:

  • Lead and coordinate shifts, ensuring the smooth running of the service
  • Support colleagues to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care
  • Make confident decisions that promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people
  • Develop and review assessments, care plans and risk assessments
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children, young people and families

About you:

You will be an experienced childcare practitioner who understands the importance of relationship-based and trauma-informed practice. You will be confident taking the lead on shift, making decisions when circumstances change and supporting colleagues to provide consistent, high-quality care. You will be passionate about helping children and young people achieve their potential and creating opportunities that build confidence, resilience and positive memories.

Children and Young Person Care Mentor – GIRFEC Lead Practitioner will be required to be registered with Scottish Social Services Council [SSSC] and have or attain within the registration period the minimum qualification of HNC Social Care and SVQ Level 3. A full manual driving licence is essential. This role also requires PVG Scheme membership.
