About the Role
CrossReach Counselling volunteers work across a range of specialities and locations, delivering services face-to-face, online and over the phone. We are a supportive, holistic team committed to providing high-quality counselling to clients when they need it most, while maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.
Responsibilities
As a volunteer counsellor with CrossReach, you will provide a professional counselling service to a small caseload of clients, usually between 2 and 4. In-person counselling takes place at our Regional Office in Inverness, located at Cameron House. You will receive necessary training and guidance to practise within our organisational framework, along with ongoing support and group supervision.
Requirements
- Completed a diploma in counselling or currently working towards one and have achieved readiness to practise.
- Minimum of 50 clinical hours for those supporting perinatal services.
- ACTO-approved online training course required if you wish to deliver counselling online.
- Must be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme; a new application or an update will be arranged by CrossReach after a successful interview.
- Registered with the Social Services and Social Care Act (SSSC) and meet all standards and criteria for registration.
- Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
Recruitment and Checks
Following a successful interview, we will apply for your PVG membership or update your existing one. Interview discussions will cover availability, caseload capacity, case work experience, commitment to supervision, and external supervisor details.
