At CrossReach, we want children and young people to have opportunities to play, learn, build confidence and enjoy new experiences. As a Relief Play Leader, you’ll help create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where they can do exactly that. This is a flexible relief role where you’ll provide support when needed, working alongside a dedicated team to deliver engaging activities and positive experiences for children and families.
What you’ll do
- You’ll help plan and deliver activities that are fun, inclusive and shaped around the needs and interests of the children and young people we support.
- Plan and deliver creative, engaging and inclusive play activities.
- Create a safe and welcoming environment where children feel valued and supported.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents and carers.
- Encourage children to share their ideas and have a say in the activities they take part in.
- Support children’s wellbeing, confidence, development and independence.
- Make sure activities are delivered safely and appropriate health, safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
- Work closely with colleagues, volunteers and partner organisations.
- Help create an inclusive environment where every child feels welcome.
What we’re looking for
- You’ll bring enthusiasm, creativity and a genuine interest in supporting children and young people.
- You’ll be confident building positive relationships with children and families, communicating with others and working as part of a team.
- You’ll be flexible, organised and able to plan and manage activities safely, while responding to the changing needs of the service.
- You’ll also be comfortable using basic IT systems, including Microsoft Office and the internet.
- Most importantly, you’ll understand the value of play, encouragement and positive relationships in helping children build confidence and thrive.
