This is an opportunity to join a leading UK engineering organisation at the forefront of hydrogen-powered genset and power generation technology. You will play a key role in the design and development of hydrogen fuel systems and gensets, supporting the transition to zero-emission power solutions across industrial and mobile applications. Following continued growth and investment in hydrogen technology, our client is seeking a technically strong and motivated engineer to lead hydrogen system development across multiple genset platforms. If you are passionate about clean energy, robust engineering, and taking products from concept through to production, this role offers genuine influence and long-term impact.

What does this role involve day to day?

  • Lead technical reviews for hydrogen genset fuel systems, including gas trains and storage.
  • Manage and coordinate project documentation, design reviews, and system sign-off activities.
  • Own and close out DVPSOR and DFMEA activities for hydrogen genset platforms.
  • Support and lead 8D investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Draft and complete functional safety and product sign-off documentation.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including controls, electrical, manufacturing, suppliers, and compliance.
  • Ensure hydrogen system designs meet UK and international legislation, safety standards, and certification requirements.

Who you are

  • You are educated to at least HND level in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • You have experience delivering products from concept through to production, ideally within gensets, power generation, engines, or industrial equipment.
  • You are comfortable designing and packaging fuel systems, gas handling systems, or similar fluid systems.
  • You understand compliance, safety, and regulatory requirements for hydrogen or gaseous fuel systems.
  • You bring strong project ownership, supplier management, and commercial awareness.
  • You have a working knowledge of hydrogen legislation, standards, and best practice (or a strong desire to deepen it).
