A fast-growing energy infrastructure business is scaling its UK operations and is looking for a driven Business Development Manager to help build, shape, and grow its presence across the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) market.

This role sits within a small, ambitious UK team, offering direct exposure to senior leadership and real influence over strategy and execution. The position is hybrid, with access to an office in the North West of England.

The Role

This is a role for someone who is hungry to create new business, enjoys opening doors, and is motivated by building something rather than inheriting a fully formed pipeline. You’ll be trusted to develop opportunities, learn the technical detail, and turn relationships into long-term commercial success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and executing a C&I-focused business development strategy across energy and infrastructure solutions
  • Proactively originating new opportunities through relationships, networking, and market engagement
  • Leveraging existing C&I connections while continuously building new networks and routes to market
  • Developing and managing a strong, self-generated pipeline from early-stage engagement to contract close
  • Engaging with customers to understand commercial, operational, and sustainability drivers and translating these into viable energy solutions
  • Working closely with technical, delivery, and commercial teams to shape robust proposals and deal structures
  • Leading negotiations across capex, lease, and zero-capex commercial models
  • Staying curious and investing time in learning new technologies, market dynamics, and regulations
  • Representing the business at industry events, conferences, and networking forums
  • Maintaining CRM accuracy and providing clear performance reporting to senior leadership

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years’ experience in business development or sales within C&I energy, infrastructure, or adjacent sectors
  • A proven hunter mentality with a track record of creating new business, not just managing accounts
  • An existing C&I network, combined with the hunger to keep expanding it
  • Strong commercial instinct and comfort selling complex, consultative solutions
  • A growth mindset — motivated to learn, develop, and broaden technical understanding (including battery storage)
  • Confidence operating autonomously in a lean, fast-growth environment
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Exposure to battery storage, flexibility, EV charging, onsite generation, or ESCO models is highly beneficial but not essential
  • Understanding of UK energy or infrastructure markets is advantageous

What’s On Offer

  • Competitive base salary with uncapped commission
  • Pension scheme
  • Company laptop and phone
  • Training, development, and ongoing learning support
  • Travel opportunities as part of the role
  • High autonomy with the opportunity to build something meaningful
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial environment where ambition is encouraged

Diversity & Inclusion

The business is committed to creating an inclusive and equitable hiring process. All qualified applicants will be considered regardless of background.
